2025 - Year in Review

Posted on Dec 28, 2025

This year, I tried many new things. I learned new skills and gained new experiences. I also faced new challenges, both mentally and physically. I learned how to let go of the past and move forward. We cannot change the past; we can only learn from it.

One key takeaway from this year is that mental health is just as important as physical health. If you feel mentally overwhelmed or broken, do not hesitate to seek advice from a professional.

January

January was a strong start, and I felt fully energized for the rest of the year. I planned to learn how to drive this year, so I spent time researching the best driving schools.

At the end of the month, I watched a badminton tournament in a stadium for the first time in my life. It was the Princess Sirivannavari Thailand Masters 2025, held at Nimibutr Stadium.

What caught my attention was a small cheering team for Thai players. There were only three of them, but they wore bright-colored clothes and were full of energy. They cheered loudly whenever a Thai player was on the court, which made the atmosphere more lively and enjoyable.

It was a wonderful and memorable moment.

February

In February, I started taking driving classes at D1 Driving School. The course lasted around three weeks and included a total of ten hours of practice. The school also prepared me for the driving license test.

March

I took both the practical and theoretical exams at the school to get the certificate. After that, I went to the DLT to obtain my Thai driving license.

The license is temporary and valid for two years. After two years, I need to extend it to a permanent one.

May

In May, I started this blog. It is powered by Hugo and hosted on Vercel. I also published my first blog post.

Around the same time, I visited a badminton stadium again for my second live tournament, the TOYOTA Thailand Open 2025.

This time, I watched a match between Kunlavut Vitidsarn, the 2024 Olympic silver medalist, and Kenta Nishimoto. It was exciting to see such a high-level match in person.

August

In August, I focused on my open-source work and released kirin. kirin is a CLI tool that scaffolds a full-stack gRPC application. It is designed for building internal full-stack applications that connect to multiple microservices.

The idea behind this tool is to develop a full-stack application as a single binary, made possible by the Go 1.18 file embedding feature. kirin supports both gRPC and REST APIs, so other services can connect to it when needed.

If you plan to use this tool in production, feel free to let me know. I would love to hear your story too.

September

In September, I traveled to Hanoi, Vietnam. I tried many local foods, and one of my favorites was the Vietnamese sandwich called Bánh mì.

Vietnam also has great coffee with unique flavors. Some popular ones are salted coffee and coconut coffee. One signature drink of Hanoi is egg coffee.

Many cafes offer egg coffee, but Cafe Giảng is special because it is where egg coffee was first invented. If you plan to visit Hanoi, I highly recommend trying egg coffee.

I also watched Hanoi’s famous water puppet show at the Thang Long Water Puppet Theater. The show depicts Vietnamese village life, such as fishing and farming, as well as important historical events. It was wonderful and full of excitement.

November

In November, I gave a public talk for the first time in my career at DevFest Yangon 2025. I spoke about building CLI applications with Charm and Go. Here are the presentation slides I used for my talk, and the source code can be found here.

December

December is a month of relaxation and calm. People usually slow down, recharge, and prepare for the coming year. The same goes for me.

📅 2026

I had an early New Year party with my badminton buddies to celebrate and welcome the upcoming year together.

Overall, this year gave me new experiences, excitement, and many joyful moments. That’s it. Until next time.
